L-A-B METCAP Program is Recognized by NACLA
“The NACLA evaluation process proved to be a successful combination of our current international recognition through the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) and the requirements set forth in NACLA Accreditation Body Evaluation Procedure to attain National Recognition” stated Doug Leonard, L-A-B President. “The NACLA recognition process has proven to be a great asset to L-A-B … through the stakeholder cooperation we continue to work together developing recognition and accreditation requirements that meet the needs of regulators and specifiers in the United States, while maintaining a focus on the use of international standards and recognition. As a result, NACLA can recognize AB’s while reducing the redundancy of multiple regulator/specifier approvals in the US while reducing technical barriers to trade.” L-A-B is an independent third party Accreditation Body whose mission is to Improve Testing and Calibration Laboratories worldwide. L-A-B is recognized by both NACLA (www.nacla.net) and ILAC (www.ilac.org ) in the fields of calibration and testing. The National Cooperation for Laboratory Accreditation (NACLA) has continued recognition of Laboratory Accreditation Bureau (L-A-B) and as a result formally recognized L-A-B’s Metrology and Calibration Accreditation Program (METCAP) for both calibration and testing labs. This Metrology and Calibration Accreditation Program is for those ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratories who want to be found in compliance with sub-clause 5.3 of the National Standard ANSI/NCSL Z540.3-2006. L-A-B ISO/IEC 17025 accredited METCAP laboratories control their own measuring and test equipment to the highest national standard and utilize the L-A-B METCAP mark to show their compliance to sub-clause 5.3 of ANSI/NCSL Z540.3-2006. METCAP laboratories apply the requirements of sub-clause 5.3 to their own Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE) and calculate the estimation and evaluation of measurement decision risk using the probability of false acceptance (PFA). With NACLA recognition of L-A-B’s assessment of the laboratories estimation and evaluation of decision risk, stakeholders: regulators/specifiers (NASA, NAVY for example), laboratories and other accreditation bodies can be assured on the reliability of the accreditation through a rigorous and complete NACLA evaluation.
